Kick off the week of Juneteenth with a lively tribute to house music and its impact on the African American community! The Playhouse joins forces with our friends from the Southampton African American Museum for a free screening of the new documentary Move Ya Body: The Birth of House, a fun and informative overview of the scene, and learn about its surprising connections to Southampton.

Acclaimed director Elegance Bratton (The Inspection) traces the roots of the house music scene from its early stirrings in Chicago in the late 1970s through its impact today. After the screening, we'll be joined by special guests to discuss history of house music in the area, and welcome our guests to join us for a listening session in the lounge. While tickets are free, you must reserve a seat in advance.
